Nearly 1,500 Ohio attorneys have already taken advantage of the invitation to report hours of pro bono service to the Ohio Supreme Court.
Voluntary pro bono reporting is now in its fifth year. Attorneys having an email address on file with the court’s attorney services division, now over 90 percent of attorneys with an active registration, received an email containing a link to a reporting website. The website is maintained outside the court to comply with the court’s directive that pro bono reporting be both voluntary and anonymous.
The reporting website collects information about pro bono legal services performed in 2012. The site has about eight questions and will take an attorney only about ten minutes to complete. The information reported will be used by the court and Ohio’s legal aid societies to improve delivery of civil legal services to low income people.
The reporting website will remain open until March 31.
Attorneys who wish to voluntarily report pro bono legal services in 2012, and cannot locate the email with the link to the reporting website, may request another copy of the link by email to justiceinaction@ohiojusticefoundation.org.
