Ohio victims of mortgage fraud and abuse will receive payments from a national settlement, according to an announcement by Attorney General Mike DeWine. Ohio homeowners who filed claims will share in a $48 million settlement and will receive an average of $1,480 each. Many Ohio homeowners obtained lawyers to represent them in foreclosure cases through the Ohio Foreclosure Project, which paired homeowners with legal aid staff attorneys or pro bono volunteer lawyers. The project was partially funded by the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation. To read more about the settlement, click here.
