The Nonprofit Organizations Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law recently recognized five accomplished and civic-minded lawyers as recipients of its annual Outstanding Nonprofit Lawyer Awards for 2010. OLAF is pleased to share that the Committee recognized David Ball with the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award for distinguished service to the nonprofit sector by a young lawyer under 35 years of age or in legal practice for less than 10 years.
Attorney Ball practices with Schottenstein, Zox & Dunn of Columbus, Ohio. An ordained minister as well as an attorney, he returned to the practice of law five years ago after many years’ service in the ministry. As OLAF’s Associate Director for Pro Bono from 2001 to 2005, Dave organized Interfaith Legal Services of Ohio, providing pro bono legal representation to the needy through church and synagogue based cadres of attorneys. He serves as coordinator of his firm’s nonprofit and religious institutions practice group and has taught courses at Methodist Theological School of Ohio on church law.
