On May 6, President Trump signed the FY 2017 omnibus spending bill, which funds the federal government through September 30, 2017. The bill passed with bipartisan support in both chambers of Congress.
The bill includes $385 million for the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), a non-profit corporation established by Congress in 1974, to provide funding and support for civil legal aid to those who otherwise would be unable to afford it. Federal funds through LSC provide a third ($12.4 million) of the total statewide budget for legal aid in Ohio.
