In 2014, Ohio’s legal aids provided a legal voice for more than 2,600 children, more than 5,400 veterans, and more than 15,000 seniors, as reported in the Foundationâ’s annual report, released March 26.
Despite a continuing decline in total disbursements by the Foundation to Ohio’s legal aids, the legal aids, which serve all 88 counties, helped Ohioans gain a legal voice in civil legal matters involving families, housing, and healthy communities.
“Legal aid enables individuals to find solutions to critical life issues and to live self-sufficient, safe and productive lives,” said Kathleen M. Trafford, a partner at the Columbus law firm Porter Wright and president of the Foundation. “Legal aid strives to create communities where fairness and justice are available to all,” she said.
