In 2013, Ohio’s legal aids achieved justice for more than 2,500 children, more than 4,300 veterans, and for more than 12,000 seniors, according to the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation’s annual report, released today.

Despite a continuing decline in the Foundation’s revenues, which provide the majority of operating funds for each of Ohio’s six legal aids, the legal aids helped Ohioans secure justice in civil legal matters involving families, housing, and healthy communities.

“As America has grown and life itself has become more complex, justice for many has become more difficult to achieve,” said Ritchey Hollenbaugh, a partner at the Columbus law firm of Carlisle Patchen and Murphy and president of the Foundation. “Civil legal aid levels the playing field and ensures justice for all,” he said.
